THE STORY SO FAR...

Dave grew up in South Shields, an idyllic village in the North East of England, but now resides in the South West where he teaches piano and records his music when he gets a moment's peace.

During the 1990s, Dave focussed on composing contemporary classical music for the concert hall and had several of his works performed live across the UK (and as far away as Taiwan) by renowned performers such as the Kokoro Ensemble, Gemini and pianist James Clapperton.
Along the way, Dave also completed a PhD in Musical Composition in the summer of 2000.

Meanwhile, from 1989 to 2002, Dave composed and performed jingle idents for BBC Radio's “Steve Wright In The Afternoon”. After a couple of years absence, a selection of these were aired again on a daily basis throughout 2006.

WHAT'S FLOWERBED?

Dave returned to songwriting a few years ago and recorded two EPs under the pseudonym Flowerbed.
Along with an instrumental album entitled “Still”, these two EPs are now rare and collectable. However, the six songs featured were later joined by a further five in 2004 to comprise a full-length CD album called “Songbook”.
The songs themselves could be described as “singer-songwriter”, “delicate, laidback, melodic music” and “revealing influences from Joni Mitchell to XTC”.

A selection of six songs from “Songbook” are now downloadable as mp3s on the Flowerbed site's homepage while, for afficionados of CD quality out there, the album is still available to buy at http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/flowerbed.
